Background
Since opening our doors in Toronto, Canada, in 1968 and operating on a platform of service, reliability and integrity Hari World Travel has quietly grown to be one of the premier Consolidators in North America. Our initial mission was to address the needs of a growing Indian population and our operation was primarily retail. Ever alert to a changing industry and developing distribution channels Hari World was eager to accept the challenge when we became one of the agencies selected to be the prototype of a relatively new concept called consolidation. Through our six offices - New York, Chicago, Atlanta, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Delhi - Hari World and the 3,500 plus sub-agents it services and other initiatives, will generate close to $100 million in annual Airline sales. While Wholesale activity continues to be the dominant source of sales our Retail division, thanks to aggressive penetration and development of the corporate market, is consistently registering year over year growth.
While India and the Indian market segment continue to be our primary source of revenue. Hari World, early on in the game, was very quick to recognize that in order not only to survive but to flourish, would have to be more than just another Indian Consolidator. Consequently we have structured our future on a commitment to a program of managed growth, creative relationships and product diversification. The prevailing conditions in today's market place with zero commissions, shrinking agency base and the Airlines continued romance with the Internet has created a niche that we hope to aggressively fill.
We are currently in the process of launching a state of the art Website through which we hope to generate greater efficiencies to our operation. The Website will represent a premier solution for product distribution and reservation processing that will present our product consistently to a wider spectrum of users. By consolidating all contractual information to one database we will be able to reduce the high cost associated with multiple data input. The site will also provide an Internet based solution to Travel Agents allowing them to complete their transactions independently. This initiative will also allow us to launch a private label Internet solution targeted toward the consumer so that we can exploit a new revenue stream and in the process reap higher margin transactions by developing our Retail potential.

Infrastructure
Hari World has arrived where it is today with a prudent strategy of managed growth and strategically motivated expansion. We currently have offices in New York, Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, San Francisco, Los Angeles and New Delhi and have plans for further expansion consistent with our marketing strategies. One of the most difficult challenges in expansion is finding qualified personnel. Hari World recognizes that you can have Airlines contracts, prices and destinations but, if you do not have qualified, dedicated people to interface with your clients, you have nothing. We carefully recruit our people, provide ongoing training, and encourage an informal yet professional work environment. As a result, customer satisfaction is high and turnover rate is low.
Company benefits, at this time , do not include profit sharing but we do offer annual performance bonuses. Our eligible employees enjoy paid vacations, paid holidays and comprehensive health coverage. Next year we will be introducing a 401K plan. Each employee is evaluated annually based on pre-established objectives and personal development. Our people are our greatest asset and our goal is to keep them happy, motivated and working toward their full potential.
We have four basic divisions - Sales, Reservations, Ticketing and Accounting. The ticketing division is staffed with knowledgeable individuals totally conversant in all of our contracts and familiar with the various Airline requirements. In conjunction with our accounting department they have developed a quality control system which ensures a smooth, accurate and efficient handling of ticketing, refunds, adjustments etc. No ticket leaves our office without passing through the scrutiny of our rigid system of quality control.
Our reservations and sales staff have been carefully chosen for their experience and enthusiasm. They are well versed in our product and each brings their own unique dimension to our working environment.
Market Presence
Hari World Travel, headquartered in New York, has branch offices in Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles and San Francisco all of which are ARC approved. Our office in New Delhi, India is now IATA approved. New branches in New Jersey, Washington and Boston are in the planning stages.
At the present time about 70% of our total sales are wholesale with the remaining 30% coming from retail - a mixture of Corporate and Leisure business. Our Wholesale activity is generated through some 3,500 sub-agents.
Customer Service and Quality Control
Reservations are housed at 3 West 35th Street, New York, NY where our hours of business Monday through Friday are 9 AM to 7:30 PM and Saturday from 9 AM to 3 PM. We have 10 full-time counselors/reservations staff.
Our Reservations staff is comparatively senior with average seniority of about 6 years. Apparently, based on our financial stability and worker friendly environment, there is a constant flow of individuals from other agencies seeking employment with Hari World. This source combined with word of mouth and advertisements in the "Trades" satisfy our demands for new employees.
Each new employee, regardless of experience, spends a minimum of three weeks in training and indoctrination. This training encompasses the interpretation and application of the Hari World products and procedures, sales training, ticketing and accounting. When the employee is considered ready to go on the phones they must be fully conversant, not only of their own responsibilities but also the functions of the other departments and the individuals with whom they are required to interface.
Technology and Systems
Hari World's primary system is Sabre, however, we also have Apollo, Amadeus and Worldspan. As previously mentioned, most of our top accounts have been given bridge access to our fares and inventory via the use of a unique pseudo city code. This has proven to be such a highly efficient and economic method of communication that many of our competitors have tried to emulate it. Hari World began using Agency Data System as our accounting package back in 1986. However the volume and the complexity of the transactions outgrew the ability of ADS to serve our needs so we developed and financed our own state-of-the-art system, Globetrotter ( see attachment ) that has been operational since the beginning of 1999. Globetrotter is now capable of driving the kind of reports that we find essential in analyzing our sales data and developing marketing strategies. We now have the ability to store our data on microfiche. This enhancement allows easier access to past records and is invaluable in conducting research and deploying resources based on past performance.
Our sub-agents reach us via Sabre, Fax, telephone, 800 lines, E-mail or Internet and walk-in. Our fares are also available in our extranet application which is available by membership to travel agents.
Hari World has had an active Web site for the last several years and , while the site was very basic it was generating more than 2000 inquiries per day. We are now in the "beta launch" stage of a totally new "cutting edge" site that will be available to Travel Agents replete with booking engine. Concurrently we are developing a retail portal that should be up and running later this year. Our commitment to e-commerce, supported by a substantial advertising campaign promises to be an enormous success.
Hari World tracks sales by source and individual production on a daily basis and uses this information as the basis for incentive programs both internally and externally.
