HARI WORLD, DELTA AND KING FISHER AIRLINES THROW TWO GALA PARTIES
from OVERSEAS INDIA PRESS SYNDICATE
By Chandrakant Pancholi
On October 26th, 2006, HariWorld started it all—by throwing a big gala party for about 220 travel agents and guests..
HariWorld wanted to celebrate and network with its clients and its clients with each other. It also wanted an early start in welcoming the non-stop Delta Airlines flight to Mumbai (formerly called Bombay) and give a mighty push to the KingFisher Airlines on an innovating idea of picking up and flying passengers right out of the Mumbai Internation Airport, starting December 1st, to four popular destinations—Ahmedabad, Bangalore (now called what?-Bangalooru), Chennai and New Delhi.
Guests were welcomed by HariWorld’s charming President Kamini Cohly, while its CEO Prem Cohly and Donald Buckley. Vice-President, Sales, gave presentations.about the progress of the company. They described how from its modest start in 1968 in Canada, they have now became one of the biggest consolidators (consolidators sell tickets to travel agents only) in USA.
Headquartered in New York, HariWorld has branches in Atlanta, Houston, L.A., San Francisco as well as in New Delhi, India. They have just opened a branch in Jackson Heights, N.Y., and plans to open branches in Boston, Washington and New Jersey, later this year.
Marek Kusek, National Account Manager, Delta Airlines and Sudhan Thomas—Regional Director (North America) also made presentations about their airlines connection and baggage handling arrangement in Mumbai as well as availability of “Jain Food” on Delta Airlines.
KING FISHER STARTS MAKING “WAVES IN THE SKIES”AND DELTA SPREADS ITS NON-STOP WINGS TO MUMBAI
Delta Airlines, KingFisher Airlines and Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, gave another follow-up gala party, on November 1st, at the same Double Tree Hotel in mid-Manhattan. It was to celebrate the 1st non-stop flight of Delta from JFK to Mumbai.
It seems that Delta is trying to capture the Indian Market. While Dr. Vijay Mallya, Chairman and Sudhan Thomas – Regional Director (North America) – of Kingfisher Airlines are going to capture a lot of business travelers by their innovative approaches. They want to give what travelers want, rather than the approach other domestic airlines have—“Take what we have, not what you want.” If KFA continues to come up with more and more innovation, it will give a ‘run for their money’ to domestic discount -airlines in India.
